Wetlands are among the most valuable natural systems for protecting our environment. They filter pollutants to improve water quality, store carbon, reduce flood risk and provide vital habitats for wildlife, all while working in balance with natural processes. Restoring and creating wetlands is not only about treating water, but also about supporting biodiversity and enhancing resilient landscapes.
At Salix, we are experts in the design and build of Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICWs). These systems mimic and enhance natural functions to deliver long term, sustainable water treatment in a variety of settings from wastewater treatment works to mining sites and other locations where water must be cleansed before being safely discharged back into rivers.
What makes Salix unique is our ability to manage every stage of the process. We don’t just design and build wetlands, we also grow and supply specialist plants from our own nurseries, ensuring the right species are selected to cleanse water, stabilise soils and create thriving ecosystems. Our delivery teams bring proven civil engineering expertise, enabling us to construct hard engineered elements in house where required. By combining technical capability with nature based solutions, we create wetlands that are practical, resilient and require little to no maintenance.
