Salix specialise in designing and delivering large and small scale river restoration schemes that bring lasting benefits to communities, wildlife and the environment. As leaders in nature-based solutions, we have successfully restored some of the most complex and challenging waterways, helping to improve biodiversity, reduce flood risks and enhance natural habitats.

Whether it’s bank stabilisation, flood alleviation, erosion control or habitat creation, we tailor our solutions to each unique landscape, ensuring long-term ecological success and resilient river systems.

We believe in working with nature, not against it. Soil bioengineering and innovative soft engineering approaches, ensure that our projects not only restore rivers but also support thriving ecosystems for long term health.

Salix has delivered a wide range of successful river restoration projects. We collaborate with clients to design and deliver solutions that last. We have delivered these schemes for private clients or as part of various water frameworks, utilising our own in-house equipment teams and design experts to ensure seamless project execution.

We provide a flexible service tailored to the needs of a project. Whether you require a full service solution encompassing design, build and implementation or prefer to engage us for specific project elements such as design, construction or product supply, we can adapt to your requirements. Our integrated approach ensures efficiency, quality, and sustainability in every project we undertake.

Some of our solutions:
  • Bank Stabilisation: Using soil bioengineering techniques and natural materials to prevent erosion while promoting long-term stability through vegetation growth.

  • Flood Risk Reduction: Combining soft engineering solutions with natural flood management to slow water flow, enhance storage capacity and reduce downstream flood impacts.

  • Habitat Creation and Biodiversity Enhancement: Designing and implementing wetland and riparian habitats that support native species, improve ecological connectivity and boost biodiversity.

  • Soil Bioengineering and Soft Engineering: Applying sustainable, nature-based solutions to reinforce banks and restore natural processes.
